Hi, I’m Casey Hogan.
I’m a food-loving, independent, weight lifting, solo traveler exploring the world with my dog Oaty in our Ford Transit camper van. I grew up in Rhode Island and call it as well as Boston home.
What does “Towing Wild Oats” mean?
This chapter of my life is about exploring to my heart’s content. It’s about growth and learning what else is out there before I decide anything else about what I want my life, career, community, or family to look like. The more I thought about it the more it felt like I was gearing up to “sow my wild oats”, as they say, but not in this male-focused, sexualized way. The value behind that time of exploration and freedom is what I’m after, so I decided to give this concept my own, more open-minded take on it.
The fact that my dog’s name is Oaty only made it feel more right. Over the years my little foster fail and I have worked on showing him that he is safe and can put trust in his people and the world around him. He came a long way, and vanlife only accelerated this process. Within a year on the road he conquered a number of his fears, gets better with strangers every day, and has assumed the role of protecter of both me and the van, which he takes very seriously. All he’s ever wanted in life is to be outside, and I see why. He was born to explore nature and is so good at doing it safely within a safe proximity to me. So every day I am quite literally towing wild Oats to our next great adventure.
Abbreviated, Towing Wild Oats becomes TWO, for the two of us on this journey. I know - this name couldn’t be more perfect for what we’re doing!
