Cranberry Sage Mocktail

While waiting to swap dishes in and out of the oven on Thanksgiving I played with leftover ingredients to make myself an easy mocktail that I am now obsessed with. I’ve always looked forward to fresh cranberries coming in season every year in October to make my Mom’s Cranberry Bread. Now I’ll look forward to it to use the leftovers for fun holiday drinks or for a mocktail to sip while the bread is in the oven. So here is an easy cranberry sage mocktail recipe you can put together in minutes anytime you can find these tart little gems at the store.

INGREDIENTS
Makes 2 mocktails
•1/4 cup cranberries
•1/4 cup honey
•1/4 cup water
•1 sprig of fresh sage, stem removed, chopped length-wise
•1 12oz can of seltzer (plain, lime, or orange)

DIRECTIONS
1. Add cranberries, honey, water, and sage to a sauce pan over low heat. Heat until simmering, then remove from heat. Mash the cranberries a bit then allow the mixture to cool.
2. Once mixture is cool, fill 2 short glasses with ice and divide the can of seltzer between them.
3. Strain cranberry sage syrup into the glasses.
Optional: Garnish with a sprig of sage. (If you hold the sage in the palm of one hand and slap it with the other once or twice - like a sideways clap - it releases oils in the leaves that make it really fragrant!)
